Extremely loud car belt
WebJul 10, 2024 · I'm getting an extremely loud rattling noise coming from what seems to be the area around the bottom of the engine. The rattling comes in at around 1000 rpm at idle and goes away with higher rpm. I took the accessory drive belt off of the car and the noise was still there. If you pump the clutch pedal and the noise changes, it's likely to be the bearing. On some cars you can spray a little of white lithium grease onto the bearing but you need to be careful not to spray it all around the bellhousing. May help for some time.
